Nile Monarch 14 Night Cruise - Aswan to Cairo Itinerary
DAY 1: ASWAN
Arrival day into Aswan where you will be met by a representative of Orbital Travel and transferred to the Nile Monarch. Dinner and overnight in Aswan.
DAY 2: ASWAN
After breakfast, visit the High Dam in Aswan, built in 1960-1971 to provide electricity to the villages along the Nile, the Unfinished Obelisk and the Temple of Isis on Philae Island. Return back to the Nile Monarch for Lunch on board, with an afternoon visit on a relaxing trip around Elephantine Island, to the Botanical Gardens on General Kitchener Island. Dinner and overnight in Aswan.
DAY 3: ASWAN – KOM OMBO - EDFU
After breakfast there is an option of a morning leisure or an early morning *Optional excursion to Abu Simbel please see the guide on board for details*. Nile Monarch departs Aswan for an early afternoon sailing to Kom Ombo. Early evening visit to This Temple, unlike many others in Egypt, was dedicated to two gods; the Southern section is dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile headed man, god of fertility, and the Northern section to the Falcon headed god Horus. Lunch and Dinner on board sail and overnight at Edfu.
DAY 4: EDFU & ESNA
After breakfast visit the Temple of Edfu, one of the best preserved Temple in Egypt. Sail to Luxor with a stop not a visit to Esna, leisure time in Luxor. Lunch and Dinner on board overnight in Luxor.
DAY 5: LUXOR
Breakfast on board followed by a visit to the beautiful West Bank. Visit the sites of the Colossi of Memnon, Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepshut. Lunch and Dinner on board overnight in Luxor.
DAY 6: LUXOR
Early morning breakfast on board the Nile Monarch. Followed by the visits to Temples of Luxor and Karnak located on the East bank. Afternoon sailing to Quena with Lunch and Dinner on board overnight Quena.
DAY 7: QUENA
Enjoy breakfast and visit Dendarah Temple complex which has some of the most vibrant and colourful paintings dating from antiquity. Return to the boat for lunch with an afternoon sailing to Nagaa Hamadi. Dinner on board overnight at Nagaa Hamadi.
DAY 8: EL BALYANA - SOHAG
Early morning sailing to El Balyana After breakfast visit Abydos Temple, the holy city of Osiris God of the Dead and the New Kingdom Temple of Seti 1. Lunch on board and sail to Sohag. Dinner on board overnight in Sohag.
DAY 9: TEL EL AMARNA VIA ASSIUT
Enjoy a free day sailing to Tel El Armarna via Assiut. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner on board overnight in Tel El Amarna.
DAY 10: MINYA TEL-AMARNA
After breakfast visit the Tel El Amarna site, once the city of Akhenaten, the Pharaoh known for his revolutionary religion that worshiped Aten. Continue to the Tuna El Gabal, the necropolis of Khmun, to visit the Tomb of Petosiris, Tomb of Isadora and the sacred Catacombs of Thoth then on to the Ashmunien. Return back for Lunch and Dinner on board and sail to El Minya overnight in El Minya.
DAY 11: MINYA – BEN SUEF
After breakfast visit three of the rock-tombs of Beni Hassan that are carved into the high limestone cliffs of the east bank of the Nile. The painted scenes depict the daily lives of the rulers and their families including scenes of desert hunting, weaving, spinning, fishing, country living, gathering crops and catching birds. Sailing to Tel Ben Suef Lunch and Dinner on board overnight in Ben Suef.
DAY 12: CAIRO
Day of leisure sailing to Cairo. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner on board overnight in Cairo.
DAY 13: CAIRO
Enjoy breakfast on board before visiting Giza where the famous Pyramids stand as monuments to the Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt & the Great Sphinx, which has kept its secrets for centuries. Afternoon at your own leisure (optional tours available thorugh your guide). Lunch and dinner on board, overnight in Cairo.
DAY 14: CAIRO
Depart after breakfast to visit the Egyptian Museum containing treasures from Egypts ancient past and including the wonderful Tutankhamun collection. Continuing to Citadel located on a limestone plateau, the Citadel was built to withstand the onslaught of the Crusaders and has wonderful views over Cairo city. Afternoon at your own leisure (optional tours available thorugh your guide). Lunch and dinner on board, overnight in Cairo.
DAY 15: CAIRO
Your journey has come to an end you will disembark Nile Monarch and transferred to Cairo airport by an Orbital Travel representative.
