MS Darakum 12 Night Cruise - Aswan to Cairo Itinerary

DAY 1: ASWAN

Embarkation on cruise in Aswan, dinner, and music, overnight in Aswan.

DAY 2: ASWAN

After breakfast, a morning visit to the High Dam in Aswan and the Temple of Isis on Philae Island. Enjoy lunch onboard followed by an afternoon visit to the Nubian Museum. Return to the boat for dinner, Nubian Show, and overnight in Aswan.

DAY 3: ASWAN

Morning at leisure for those clients not taking the optional Abu Simbel trip, with a leisurely breakfast and a chance to relax on the sun deck or stroll around Aswan. After lunch sail to Kom Ombo and visit Kom Ombo Temple. Sail to Edfu. Enjoy, dinner, Managers Cocktail Party and overnight at Edfu.

DAY 4: EDFU - LUXOR

Visit Edfu Temple, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. Sail to Luxor via Esna Lock. Dinner, music in the bar and overnight in Luxor.

DAY 5: LUXOR

Breakfast onboard and then a visit to the West Bank to the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepsut. After lunch visit the East Bank Temples of Luxor and Karnak.  Dinner, Belly Dancer Show and overnight in Luxor.

DAY 6: LUXOR – NAGA HAMMADI

Early morning sailing to Qena whilst enjoying breakfast on board. After lunch visit the impressive Denderah Temple complex which has some of the most vibrant and colourful paintings dating from antiquity. Return to the boat and sail to Naga Hammadi. Dinner, Music in the bar and overnight in Naga Hammadi.

DAY 7: NAGA HAMMADI - SOHAG

Breakfast on board whilst sailing to Balyana via Abu Homar’s  Lock. Visit Abydos Temple. The main monument at Abydos is the Temple of Seti I, built around 1300 BC by Seti and his son Ramses II. It is especially notable  for its fine reliefs, considered among the best of the New Kingdom.

Head back to the boat for lunch and sail to Sohag.

Dinner, Galabeya Party and Egyptian Wine Tasting and overnight at Sohag

 

DAY 8: SOHAG – TEL EL AMARNA

Enjoy the beauty of the Nile whilst sailing from Sohag to Tel El Amarna via Asyut Lock. Breakfast on board. Arrive El Amarna after lunch, in time to visit the Amarna Visitor Centre with a presentation on Akhenaten and Nefertiti. Cookery lesson on board. Dinner and overnight in Tel El Amarna.

DAY 9: TEL EL AMARNA - MINYA

After breakfast visit the Tuna El Gabal and Ashmuneim. Visit the tombs at Tel El Amarna visit northern Tombs, Tomb of Ahmose, Tomb of Meryre, Tomb of Pentu, Tomb of Panehesy, the Great Palace of King Akhenaten and the small and great Temples of Aten.

Return to the boat and sail to  Minya whilst enjoying lunch. Dinner and Folkloric show on board. Overnight in Minya.

DAY 10: MINYA – BENI SUEF

After breakfast visit Ben Hassan. Visit the Tomb of Baquet III, Tomb of Khety, Tomb of Amenemhet and Tomb of Khnumhotepl II. Sail to Beni Suif, Lunch and Dinner on board. Quiz night and arrive in Beni Suif and overnight.

DAY 11: BENI SUIF- CAIRO

Enjoy breakfast and a leisurely sail to Cairo arriving after lunch. Visit the Hanging Coptic Church, Coptic Museum, and the Jewish Synagogue. Dinner on board with Takht (Oriental Music). Overnight in Cairo.

DAY 12: CAIRO

Enjoy breakfast onboard and then a visit to the spectacular Great Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza. Lunch on board. After lunch, visit the Egyptian Cairo Museum in Cairo. Dinner on board, music in bar with an overnight in Cairo.

DAY 13: CAIRO

Disembarkation.

Please note: The order or content of your itinerary may be amended due to lock closures, low water levels or any other unforeseeable circumstances. Due to the increasing number of boats on the Nile, at some docking points boats are moored side by side obstructing the view from cabins. Occasionally, due to operational difficulties a change of vessel can occur. However, the sightseeing itinerary will remain the same.
