Danube River Cruise & Budapest City Stay
Extend your stay after your Danube river cruise and spend some time in Budapest. With beautiful architecture, the capital city of Hungary has been called the ‘Paris of the East’, occupying both banks of the river Danube and listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1987. The history of the city goes back centuries but it was during the nineteenth century that Budapest was formed from three separate cities, Buda, Pest and Obuda making Budapest a youthful and unique city, influenced by Viennese and Parisian architecture. Divided into many districts and quarters, they all have different atmospheres, cultures and traditions.
Highlights in this beautiful city are many, with Heroes’ Square one of the most visited. With the Museum of Fine Arts on one side and the Palace of Art on the other and at the entrance to the City Park, this historic square commemorates the great leaders in Hungary’s history. Another fine building is Hungary’s Parliament; on the façade of this magnificent building are gargoyles, spires and 88 fabulous statues of past Hungarian rulers.
