The gateway to the African continent where the Nile is at it’s most beautiful.

For many, Aswan is the most beautiful city in the Nile Valley with sand dunes sweeping down to the Nile where the waters flow gently around the granite rocks and emerald islands.  A leisurely stroll along the Corniche, a Nile promenade, reveals an assortment of shops and Arabic coffee houses.

Parallel to the Corniche is Bazaar Street, with the best Souk (market) outside of Cairo.  Here the air is scented with the aroma of spices giving the atmosphere a feeling of times past. Souvenir shops add more colour to the hustle and bustle of the market.  Taking tea on the terrace of the Old Cataract Hotel whilst watching a spectacular sunset with a backdrop of Elephantine Island is pure bliss, pure Egypt.

There are many sights to see, in this most beautiful of settings on the Nile including the exotically planted Botanical Gardens on Lord Kitchener Island, reached by a traditional felucca, the High Dam, a true engineering feat of modern times or the Unfinished Obelisk embedded in the granite rock.  With so much to offer, so much to do and see, this favourite destination will most certainly never be forgotten.
