Following an extensive two-year renovation of the Paphos Beach Hotel, the town’s first ever seaside hotel which opened in 1972, Thanos Hotels launched Almyra in June 2003. The rooms have been enlarged and redesigned, and the signature suites, aptly named Kyma Suites (meaning ‘wave’ in Greek) feature rooftop terraces offering breathtaking views of the sea and the harbour, which are candle-lit at night.

The property’s two freshwater pools were rebuilt to include one especially for children and the four restaurants reflect the new philosophy of Almyra. The executive chef of the gastronomic restaurants has introduced a new creative Japanese-Mediterranean fusion menu.

Families are an integral part of Almyra’s contemporary seaside resort philosophy. The hotel boasts a dedicated children's club with extensive facilities and special children's menus.  Almyra's Baby Go Lightly service offers parents the opportunity to order every manner of baby item on-line in advance of travelling, saving plenty of space in their suitcase.

Almyra’s location means that guests have the advantage of being close to the sea, while also being within walking distance of the shops, castle, the house of Dionysos with its unparalleled Roman mosaics, three golf courses and many other attractions in and around the Pafos area. Cyprus is a perfect place to begin or continue your endless adventure into the underwater world. For certified divers, daily excursions are organised to various dive sites around the island, including various bays around the Akamas Peninsula, and even the Zinovia shipwreck near Larnaca for advanced divers.

For those who have never dived before, why not try it now. The Diving Center provides lessons whether it is just for the experience or to become an internationally recognised qualified diver.

Our "Bubble-Maker" programme offers scuba-diving lessons for kids aged 8-10 years, the perfect introduction to the world of diving.

Enjoy all kinds of watersports located right on our beach. Among other watersports available are Paragliding, Jet Bikes, Windsurfing, Kitesurfing, Self Drive Speed Boat (200hp), Water Ski Experience / Lesson, Fly Fishing, Banana,  U-Tube, Pedaloes, Kayaks / Canoes and Private Chartered Sailing Trips.

Deep Sea Fishing Trips for Tuna are also available on request for private parties, during the season from May to October, at a distance of between 10 - 18 nautical miles from the coast.

New for this season is "Aquastorm", a Pro 48 custom boat, available for private trips, with a capacity of 35 passengers. The twin 420 Horse Power engines with the jet drive system enable us to take you safely at high speeds to beautiful beaches and small quiet locations such as the Sea Caves.

In addition to Aquastorm, the brand new 9.5 metre Australian Power Catamaran with a capacity of 15 is available for exciting tours along the Cyprus coastline.

All watersports are available from April to November, during other periods they are available weather-permitting only. All our Watersports are provided by an external company.

Sports

With one floodlit tennis court, table-tennis, gymnasium, and a Sea Sports centre offering windsurfing, water-skiing, kite-surfing, sailing cruises, parascending and scuba-diving, there is a myriad of sports to choose from at Almyra.

In addition rock-climbing, mountain-biking, pony-trekking and hill-trekking activities are available during Winter months.

Golf

All year golfing becomes a reality in Cyprus at the superb 18-hole championship, par 72 Tsada Golf Club, with stunning views matched by first-class facilities.

Bathed in the warmth of the Mediterranean sunshine, Tsada Golf Club offers golfing enthusiasts the opportunity to play in winter and summer alike. Located just 14km from Almyra, the course is suitable for players of all abilities, and with a PGA Pro on hand to offer help and advice, they will be challenging enough for even the most experienced golfer.

For those who relish variety, there is also the Secret Valley Golf Course. Situated at Petra Tou Romiou, 18km from Paphos, the 18-hole course plays to a par 72 and measures over 6,300 metres. Clubhouse facilities include a large chipping area, a driving range and video coaching for improved technique.

Aphrodite Hills: A vision of sunny skies and world-class sport. Picture an undulating course dotted with olive and carob trees…manicured fairways and challenging pot bunkers overlooking the sea.  Aphrodite Hills is perched on 2 plateaus at 300 meters above sea level overlooking the Mediterranean. It caters for all abilities, has a first class Academy including a 350 meter double-ended practice range with bunkers and targets. The PGA qualified resident golf instructors are on hand for any assistance with playing the 18 hole championship standard course that plays to a par 71 and measures 6299 meters. 

Wanderlust

We can organise a wide variety of excursions and day trips for you - adventures designed to take you to the unspoiled heart of Cyprus, a world away from the well-trodden tourist path. There is something for everyone from a jeep safari into the dazzling Akamas peninsula, to wine tasting excursions to the Byzantine monastery of Chrysorroyiatissa.

Almyra’s location means that guests have the advantage of direct access to extensively landscaped gardens and the sea, while also being within walking distance of the shops, castle, the house of Dionysos with its unparalleled Roman mosaics and many other attractions in and around the Pafos area.

Three 18-hole golf courses are located only a short drive from Almyra: Tsada Golf Couse is only 18 km, Secret Valley Golf Course is 20 km, and Aphrodite Hills Golf Course is 22 km away.

Pafos International Airport is located 8km, and Larnaca International Airport is located 130 km from Almyra.

Almyra offers a choice of four restaurants - each very different, but each reflecting the tastes of this contemporary seaside resort.

Vegetarian options are available in all the restaurants.

Notios - Almyra has introduced an exciting and sophisticated concept at Notios, the al fresco à la carte restaurant, which draws upon the purity of Japanese food and reflects the sensuality of Mediterranean taste. A strong advocate of experimentation in order to create a spectrum of flavours, textures and colours, our executive chef is also passionate about the power of honesty and restraint. The result is original, simple modern cuisine with culinary integrity.

Our chef has produced a series of surprise tasting menus (ranging from five to nine courses) which he calls ‘Omakase’, meaning “trust the chef” in Japanese. Each course reflects a different texture and flavour. The chef is happy to discuss the suitability of a particular menu the day before. Omakase dinners can also be arranged for private dining on the roof terraces of the Kyma Suites. Please note that Notios is only open weather-permitting during the day from November to March.

Mosaics - Guests can enjoy lavish buffets meals at Mosaics, which is also where the scrumptious breakfasts are served. Mosaics is the main restaurant of the hotel and the meals are focused on pleasing all taste buds. Featuring a live kitchen, the flavours are varied and the theme of this restaurant is mainly of a Mediterranean / international flavour. The à la carte and selectors menus offer a selection of salads or cold appetizers, fresh meat cuts, seafood display, special à la minute cooking and of course, homemade sweets. Exciting theme nights such as Seafood Market, Asian-Pacific or Cyprus Traditional complete the casual dining experience.

Some sample dishes are: grilled octopus with red pepper and olive oil; smoked trout with horseradish sauce; carrot and peanut raita; swordfish kebabs with coriander white wine sauce.

Ouzeri - Located at beach level, Ouzeri is our traditional seasside summertime restaurant, focusing on light Greek snacks and simple local Cypriot dishes. Depending on the weather, the Ouzeri also offers barbeques at night on the beach where it is situated.  Ouzeri is closed in the period from November to March.

Flavours at Helios - Located on the right side of the lobby by the fireplace.  A lovely setting to enjoy your dinner, with magnificent sea vistas, accompanied by live music on selected evenings. 

Helios Lounge Bar - Fresh, ground coffee, delicious pastries, cakes and light refreshments are served throughout the day, as well as cocktails and drinks.  A perfect setting to enjoy your sundowners, with a magnificent view overlooking the sea and the Paphos Castle in the distance.
